In Saga Prefecture, we meet South Korean Lee Hyojin who runs an Arita porcelain gallery in the town by the same name, and Slovenia-born Vera Tokunaga who works at a Japanese tea shop in Ureshino City.

About 80% of customers at Hyojin’s gallery are tourists from overseas.

Hyojin works with a craftsman from a 100-year-old manufacturer to create never-before-seen Arita ware.

From a selection of 4,500 different glazes, Hyojin chooses the right ones for her new pieces.
